18w5d - Naming our girls

After years of name picking, digging into 12+ generations of genealogy, wanting our babies to have names that have a family connection and are meaningful to us, sound good together, and are easy to pronounce and spell in our country of origin and the US, we've finally settled on names both my husband and I love.

Contrary to what many people think, picking 6 names is MUCH harder than picking 2. At least we've narrowed it down to one gender!

We didn't want our babies to have names that rhyme or have the same initial (SSN nightmare!) or sound too "match-y," yet we wanted them to "belong" together (both the combination of first, middle and last names, and when called with their siblings' names.)

A.da Is.abella
Ju.lia El.izabeth
E.mma Cha.rlotte

I'm writing the names with periods just to make it a little more challenging for it to be searched and indexed online, since very few people who know me IRL have read my blog (or at least acknowledged that they've found this blog.)

Do let us know what you think of the names.

I LOVE THEM! They are wonderful- I think you chose wisely! I want to name my children with family names, and I couldn't imagine having to come up with 6 girl names. Two generations ago the women were named Maude and Florena and Alma. YIKES!!

All three names are great - very classy, go really well together, and I think the girls will like them a lot in years to come.
I was "cursed" with Katharine for a first name, which, though I love it, has not been spelled correctly by anyone, ever. Choosing a shorter version has been tricky - do I go by Katie, Kate, Kathy? I know DH and I will be picking short and easy names for whatever children we have.

such beautiful names
(I heard a funny story once, that to "test drive" your kid's names, you should stand at your backdoor and yell them out-- see how they sound at full bore)

and oh! Congratulations on a wonderful scan (can't wait to see photos!). So glad everyone is doing perfectly and that your cervix is hanging in there.

There is relief in every moment of reassurance--
congratulations to you all,
Kate

I love the names too. I think they go together extremely well without being too close. Spectacular job picking them, considering you had THREE girls' names to choose! Hubby and I are expecting only one baby (we don't yet know the sex but we'll find out soon enough!) and just trying to find one boy's name and one girl's name was tough! So Kudos to you for doing such a great job! WOOT!
